GOP In Trouble

(ReclaimingAmerica.net) – In the latest financial disclosures to the Federal Election Commission (FEC), the Republican National Committee (RNC) finds that its war chest has the lowest number registered after nearly a decade, holding approximately $8 million as we closed out 2023.

This number represents a downfall from previous years, marking the thinnest their wallet has been since 2014, which saw the RNC with about $5 million in their pockets.

Concerns over the fiscal health of the party started brewing as early as November 2023, following an announcement that the RNC’s coffers were down to $9.1 million by the end of October, reported by The Washington Post.

Oscar Brock, an RNC member from Tennessee addressed this with The Washington Post, describing it as a “revenue problem.” Despite sticking to their reliable playbook of donor engagements, exclusive retreats, savvy digital campaigns, and targeted mailers, the Republican National Committee (RNC) is facing an unexpected fall in fundraising results.

This financial crisis is shocking, especially when you rewind to the days following Donald Trump’s presidency—a time when the RNC’s coffers were almost full with $18.7 million as we neared the 2016 elections, and then reaching an impressive $71 million by 2019. Fast forward to the end of 2022, and their treasure chest fell to $14.3 million.

Meanwhile, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) is sitting pretty with $21 million in the bank at the close of 2023, as their FEC filings show.

Yet, amidst these hard times, RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel is not just holding the fort—she’s looking ahead with a sense of confidence.

In a November interview with The Washington Post, she suggested that the current focus of donors on individual candidates is a typical pattern during election cycles. McDaniel anticipates a consolidation of support and resources once the Republican nominee is decided, confident that the party will unite to increase their bid for the White House.
