(ReclaimingAmerica.net) – In what are widely regarded as disgusting comments, US Judge Tanya Chutkan, presiding over the 2020 election federal case against former President Donald Trump, has drawn parallels between the events of January 6, 2021, at the US Capitol and incidents like the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the Boston Marathon Bombing.
Appointed by Obama, Chutkan made these comments on Monday, denying the request from Trump’s team to shift the trial start date to April 2026.
Earlier, she had set the trial date for March 4, 2024, a day preceding Super Tuesday, when several states ranging from Maine to California are scheduled to hold their Republican presidential nomination primaries.
In this second federal indictment, the Biden Justice Department charges Trump with attempts to overturn the 2020 election results unlawfully.
Julie Kelly first reported Judge Chutkan’s remarks regarding the comparison with 9/11 on Substack, where she has been tracking the trials of the January 6 protesters.
Julie Kelly remarked, “Nothing I can say or write could ever accurately describe the lunacy of Judge Chutkan’s outlandish remarks in court—including scolding Trump’s attorneys for not preparing for his case a year before the indictment was handed down (LOL) and downplaying 12 million or so pages of discovery produced by DOJ.”
In Washington, DC, when Chutkan was addressing Trump’s request to change the trial date, she drew a comparison to the trials of Zacarias Moussaoui, a French Al-Qaeda member associated with the 9/11 terrorist attacks, and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the individual who survived the 2013 Boston Marathon Bombing.
Chutkan stated, “This timeline does not move the case forward with the haste of the mob. The trial will start three years, one month, and 27 days after the events of January 6, 2021.” Adding further, she said, “The trial involving the Boston Marathon bombing began less than two years after the events.”
Continuing her comparison, she stated, “The trial involving Zacarias Moussaoui for his role in the September 11 attacks was set to begin one year after the attacks; but due to continuances, appeals, and voluminous discovery, it began roughly four years later.”
In previous cases, Chutkan, who contributed to the presidential campaigns of former Democrat President Barack Obama, had indicated her belief that Trump should face incarceration.
