(ReclaimingAmerica.net) – Just as Donald Trump was arrested in Georgia on Democrat-led charges, he was verbally attacked by his former veep Mike Pence, who declared the 45th president of the United States wouldn’t be the 2024 GOP presidential nominee.
Pence spoke in a CNN interview Thursday in the wake of the first Republican presidential primary debate, where Trump was a no-show.
You can watch a video clip of Pence’s attack at the bottom of this post.
“Every one of us on the stage signed a pledge to support the Republican nominee. And, frankly, my hand was raised in that spirit, just in keeping my word. But I really do believe more after last night that Donald Trump is not going to be the Republican nominee,” the former US vice president said.
He argued that he or someone else among the eight GOP presidential candidates who took part in the debate would be better suited than Trump for the nomination.
“I know that many of you in the media think this is already a rematch between Trump and Biden. I don’t see that. I think last night, the American people saw hopefully — hopefully, they got a better sense of me and my role as a leader over the last 20 years,” Pence stated.
“But also, I think they got a better sense of what a deep bench the Republican Party has and that we have — we have better choices for 2024 for our party. So, I’m more confident than ever that our party is going to give us a standard bearer fitted to the times, someone who’s going to lead us to victory in 2024, and I’m going to continue to work my heart out to make sure that’s me,” Trump’s former running mate elaborated.
Pence’s comments came just as his former boss presented himself for booking in Fulton County, Georgia, under his fourth Democrat-led indictment, this time for allegedly trying to subvert the 2020 election in the state.
All public opinion surveys are showing Trump to be dozens of points in the lead in the 2024 GOP nomination race, while Pence’s support among Republican primary voters has been hovering in the single digits.
