(ReclaimingAmerica.net) – HAPPENING NOW: In further testimony to the danger to the United States of terrorists emboldened by the recent invasion of Israel, a powerful Iranian-backed group, Hezbollah, has threatened the US with attacks against American military bases if the US comes to the aid of Israel.
Hezbollah, a Shiite network based in Lebanon and controlled by Iran, is an ally of Hamas, the Palestinian terrorist group that staged a surprise attack on Israel from the Gaza Strip over the past weekend, massacring over 1,200 people, including 14 Americans.
The Hezbollah threat against the United States was issued just as the US Navy aircraft battle group of the USS Gerald Ford sent by the US government to support Israel reached Israeli waters in the Eastern Mediterranean, National Review reports.
The Iranian proxy statement threatening America’s military bases in the Middle East was issued by the Hezbollah terrorist group’s leader in Iraq, Ahmad “Abu Hussein” al-Hamidawi.
“Our missiles, drones, and special forces are ready to direct qualitative strikes at the American enemy in its bases and disrupt its interests if it intervenes in this battle,” said Al-Hamidawi, who leads the Kataib Hezbollah militia, cited by AP.
Moreover, he threatened missile launches at Israeli targets and urged his Iraqi compatriots to amass donations in support of Hamas, the Palestinian group behind the brutal attack on Israeli civilians.
The present US military presence in Iraq comprises 2,500 troops, with an additional 900 in adjacent Syria, advising and assisting local forces in suppressing the Islamic State, the report notes.
Earlier in the week, the head of the Badr Organization, an Iranian-aligned group in Iraq, shared a similar menacing message.
“If they intervene, we would intervene … we will consider all American targets legitimate,” said Hadi Al-Amiri, Badr leader and Iraqi politician.
The threats from regional Iranian-supported extremist factions emerged as the US Central Command disclosed the USS Gerald R. Ford, alongside a formidable strike force including at least five destroyers and ample aircraft, was positioning itself in the Eastern Mediterranean.
“The arrival of these highly capable forces to the region is a strong signal of deterrence should any actor hostile to Israel consider trying to take advantage of this situation,” declared General Michael “Erik” Kurilla, commander of the US Central Command.
